Hamlet: A live-online-reading

UPDATE (1 June 2021):

This Hamlet is available for viewing via the website of

the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees.

(Recommended start at 24:30 minutes into the video.)

The Tsikinya-Chaka Centre is thrilled to be associated with a brand new version of Hamlet, presented as a live-online-reading on 31 May at 18:00 (SAST)!

Director Neil Coppen and his cast were in rehearsal at Cape Town’s celebrated Fugard Theatre when Covid-19 struck South Africa in March 2020. Happily, however, the production lives on as a work-in-progress, and thanks to TCC affiliate Daniel Galloway (DGC) it is now coming to a screen near you as a once-off live reading by a crackerjack creative team!

DGC is partnering with VR Theatrical and the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees, in association with the TCC and the Centre for Creative Arts at the University of KWaZulu-Natal, to bring this South African Hamlet to online audiences around the world.

TCC Resident Artist for 2021, Buhle Ngaba, joins Coppen as Associate Director along with Bianca Amato. Ngaba is also part of a stellar cast that includes Anelisa Phewa, Rehane Abrahams, David Dennis, Faniswa Yisa, Tony Bonani Miyambo, Khutjo Green, Jemma Khan, Richard September and Royston Stoffels.
