Buhle Ngaba - Wits student workshop
As South Africa’s universities draw towards the end of a looong year of online teaching and learning, students and lecturers alike are in need of a boost of energy and enthusiasm! Especially when this can be combined with experience and expertise. So when TCC Resident Artist for 2021 Buhle Ngaba offered to run a lunchtime Zoom Shakespeare workshop for first year students at the University of the Witwatersrand who have recently been grappling with Hamlet, Colette Gordon and Chris Thurman of the Wits English Department said “Yes, please!”
Ngaba is an actor, director, playwright, author, educator and activist. She recently appeared as Ophelia in a live online reading/production of Hamlet (she was also associate director). In this video, she shares her insights into Hamlet and into working with Shakespeare's plays more generally. The event was held on 21 October 2021.
